I was working with HIV/AIDS help when Ronald Reagan came into office as President, and his attitude towards the plague enabled it to grow into a worldwide epidemic, at that time, time rising tide lifts all boats became a way for many to rationalize removing controls from the market. Welcome to a boat it sunk, more or less. Moreover, When W. became President he appointed Gale Norton, and the first statement I ever heard her make was that she thought the non-native invasive species work was too highly emphasized. As it happened that was my field of work at the time. On both occasions, I had instant nausea. It is not fun to be right when you have made dire predictions, but here we are!
