Put People First afterparty and Earth Hour: Details confirmed

Put People First supporters Synergy and Pants to Poverty present the official PUT PEOPLE FIRST march after party.

28 March 2009 – 6:00pm to 11:00pm – The Chapel pub, Chapel Street NW1 5DP.

The location is an award-winning gastro pub near Edgware road, which is only a ten minute walk from the rally in Hyde Park. The event will now be a one-room intimate gathering featuring ACOUSTIC PERFORMANCES FROM: Susie Ro & Ayla, Corneilius, Sarah Bear, Diana Rosa, Glod.

We will also be observing Earth Hour. This means all light will come from candles and battery-powered lamps between 8.30-9.30pm, and for the whole event the music will be completely acoustic, with no PA.

Please note that the pub only has a capacity of 150, so please arrive early (come straight after the rally) to guarantee getting in. Dinner is served from 7pm.

We will be charging an entrance fee of £1 to cover costs although additional donations will be welcome.

About the venue:

This family-run pub has a nice modern design with a friendly feel, with plenty of tables and chairs, and a large outdoor space for central London. They have a fine selection of wines and freshly cooked food as well as draught beer, cider and soft drinks. To get there, use this map or follow the ‘Pants’ flags after the rally.

So the net energy cost and consequent carbon footprint etc will actually be larger than if you didn’t support Earth Hour atall. The idea is to reduce your lighting energy cost not to substitute less efficient apparatus (candles and battery-powered lamps). Perhaps you could consider just reducing your lighting for the hour.
Have fun and thanks for helping raise awareness anyway.

Using batteries? That is about the most stupid idea to go green I had ever heard. As for the march, imgaine how much extra CO2 will be given out due to the traffic jams caused or extra miles required by drivers to avoid the area.

Don’t cry about the CO2.. London’s the most stupid place to drive anyway. one of the reasons why people bother driving in london is because of the terrible underground and baaaad transport connections.. if they want to do something, they should sort out the underground properly and not make the stations look like some seedy squats.
    Peace.
